1 bit Tiff
I need to convert my imposed PDF to 1 bit tiff's for output.
Is this possible using Acrobat Distiller/ If not does anyone know of another way?
I am using InDesign to build my press form layouts. I need to RIP my files to 1 bit tiff's prior to outputting.
Thanks

Re: 1 bit Tiff
This is a job for Photoshop or you can use the Save As dialog box (in
version 7.0.x) to save as TIFF and click on the settings button and make
the color space monochrome or greyscale.

Re: 1 bit Tiff
This is really a job for a RIP with copydot output capabilities. You
need full control over halftones, for instance, which only a RIP is
likely to offer.

Re: 1 bit Tiff
My images are all prescreened, so I do not need the haltone capabilities of a RIP.
Photoshop is not a good option due to the size and resolution of the press forms.
A 30" x 40" CMYK press form at 2400 dpi is over 25.7GB
The individual uncompressed 1 bit TIFF plates are only 824 MB.
Since my images are all prescreened I only need to write out my imposed files to 1 bit tiff.
I have been using InDesign to build my pressforms. It is easy to place an image and step and repeat the image as needed. It is possible to export EPS from InDesign, but the CTP output engine needs 1 bit TIFF. I have also verified that I can write out PDF from InDesign but need to convert this to a 1 bit TIFF.

Re: 1 bit Tiff
Adobe's only mainstream product for rasterisation at high-ish
resolution of PDFs is Photoshop. Acrobat can do it, and low-ish
resolutions. For high resolution, they sell RIPs...
The work you want to do is essentially a RIP-type job...

Re: 1 bit Tiff
Thanks.
I know a RIP can/will do the job.
Since I prescreen my files, the only thing I need to do is impose my images and save the result as a 1 bit tiff. A $6000 dollar software RIP is an expensive solution considering that I will not be using the majority of the RIPs features.

Re: 1 bit Tiff
Well, you might find a cheaper solution, but Adobe don't make one.
