Yeah, it came out almost a month ago and today I get an E-mail from
Canon telling me about it. Jeez!

    Gee.
Just think of all the Chinese 10D menu items you could have been browsing!
-Or just think of all the direct printing you could have done with a camera
that really requires post-processing (does anyone with a 10D really use
    direct print???).
    :)
This firmware update is about the most boring to date...

I downloaded it the day it was available. But Canon had to wait almost
a month to send an E-mail telling me it was available.

I wonder too, about the direct print. I could see it perhaps being
useful to someone shooting at an event and printing on site. But it
still seems like it would be better to shoot JPEG and transfer to a
computer for printing, so you could keep on shooting.

Seems like an amateur feature in a professional (or semi-pro) camera.
I can't see the value of printing from the camera.

The 10D has all the features I want, and more.

Direct printing is one of the "and more".

    Thanks.

And I wasnít criticizing Canon either. I own lots of stuff which come with
features that I donít want. Unless a company tailors a product
specifically for me than there are going to be features that I donít care
    about.

    This applies to my:
    TV
    Video Recorder
    Stereo
    Computer
    Windows XP
    Word
    Excel
    Cellphone
    Etc

All these have features I want and more.

That's a nice way of putting it.
I suspect it was one of those easy things to stick in there due to the
processor, and they figured they might pull in a few more naive newbies with
    one more sales pitch line.
