Re: 14 decimals after comma
For the benefit of the regulars, here's my plan:
Each time a newcomer posts this question, I'll find the most recent example and move that thread to the new one.
I hope this doesn't play too much havoc for newsreader users.

Blair,
The speed with which topics are created in this form meant that this previous topic from six days ago was half-way down the second page of topics.

Measurement question
Hello,
So I'm running ID CS2 on my Intel Mac (not sure if that will make a difference, but just so you know what's going on), and I've noticed that everytime I go to create a new document, the default measurement (for a letter document, let's say) is: 8.5000500050005 in with my margins set at 0.5000500050005 in.
If I try and type in just plain old 8.5 in, it defaults back to that weird number above. And it's not just for a letter document ... any document I create has these weird dimensions to them, and I don't know how to change it. I've looked in the preferences and deleted the preferences in my library folder, but to no avail.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Blair

MacPro InDesign CS2 Measurments decimal STRANGENESS
I just migrated all my apps from my old G4 to the new MacPro. IDCS2 worked OK but measurements all have 15 decimel places 8.5 has become 8.500005000050000. I checked preferernces and even threw away my old ones and when I went back to ID it was exactly the same.
How can I fix this?

Help me to change Value Display - Indesign CS2
Every cell that displays a numeric value has 15 decimal numbers (x, y, w, h, etc...).
I tried to change it in Preferences, but even there all the value cells have 15 decimal numbers. I know how to change the measurement unit there but all of these numbers are killing me.
Any of you have an idea of how to change it?
Thanks!

Re: 14 decimals after comma
Allegedly, Mac OSX 10.4.8 fixes this, but there's been no official announcement of that from either Apple or Adobe.

Re: 14 decimals after comma
Doesn't help this other one much though to say that... for him/her it is new.
McFalcon - you are using an Intel Mac and this is a known problem with Rosetta on Intel Macs which according to rumor will be solved in Mac Os X 10.4.8 eventually. Until then you will have to live with it.

I know. I must confess that my motivation is small to write answers that are (in your case) 40 times as long as the question.
How nice that you have a much better heart and saved McFalcon the wait until Dave connects this thread with the collection.

Re: 14 decimals after comma
They should have a HUGE RED FLASHING topic in the perm topics that says "CLICK HERE FOR INTEL MAC AND INDESIGN PROBLEMS"..
They click there. .they get the info. Huzzah!

Chris - that doesn't help if you subscribe to the forum via emails (like I do) and never visit the forum via a browser or such.

Re: 14 decimals after comma
And anyway very few people ever reads anything above the list of topics -there are several seazoned users who had never noticed the prominent Support for Intel Macs topic. Face it, Chris, there is no way to prevent people from posting the same old questions.

Re: 14 decimals after comma
>"CLICK HERE FOR INTEL MAC AND INDESIGN PROBLEMS"..
But what would lead one to believe the problem is related to Intel systems?
To capture anyone's attention, the topic needs to be "5 inches reads
5.0010011103030" or something like that.

Re: 14 decimals after comma
I was actually hoping that "14 decimals after comma" was a good enough title. I've fixed it to be the first message on the list after the Perm section. Perhaps that's why it's getting so much traffic now from people not discussing the topic but rather discussing discussing the topic.

I think it is good enough, Dave. I'm on a newsreader so I don't see the web
