    Default 2 lists

On an ASP page I'm displaying all the records from a db
    table with checkboxes.

I want to check another table to see if that ssn exist on
that table then mark the first list either checked (if
exist) or unchecked if not. What is the best way to do it?

    should I :
read table1, then read table2 to determine if ssn exist on
    table2 or...?

I'm thinking I could do it in a single read somehow with
joins or something. Let me know.

If I understand what you're saying without knowing what your data structure
is like, it sounds like you want to use an outer join, i.e.

    select distinct table1.ssn,table2.ssn from
    table1 left outer join table2 on table1.ssn=table2.ssn

That will return all the ssns in table 1 and if there's not a match in
table2, the second column will be null.

    Is that what you mean?
