Default 2 Thoth questions

1. The "from" part of the header in my posts continues
to display an old email address. I've changed it
everywhere I can find but the "from" is unaffected.

How do I change it?

2. My sig is five lines long and evevry time I post, I
get a message asking if I'm sure I want to send it
that way. How can I disable that message?

You can't. Netiquette is to use a four line sig, so if you use a five
line sig, you will get the warning.

I can't find any place to enter an email address.

I don't mind suggestions from software about netiquette,
but i do mind it enforcing its notion of netiquette on me.

Yes. You see, Thoth knows better than you.

The answer is somewhat dependent on what you have done. So I think it
would be better if you read the section of the user guide part 6,
Messages and Personalities than for me to answer that. What I have done
is set up a default personality as described. You may have set up
another personality or perhaps you have not set up any personalities.

> 4 is OK... 5 is a sin?
Well, they are not supposed to be more than 4. The software does let
you use 5, it just warns you, if it were enforcing 4, it would not let
you post 5. I think this approach comes from something called the Good
Net Keeping Seal of approval. http://www.newsreaders.com/gnksa/ .

Under File Menu - "Open personality". If you have only one personality,
then choose default (or whatevee you named it). When it opens, you can
edit it.

Preferences---->Messages---> "Warn re too long sigs".

5 lines isn't a compliant .sig file. The software is notifying the
user that they aren't following the conventions.

(snip more abuse)

Tough. Use something else.

You know, something more common.

Something more, well, average.

Well, I finally found it. The 6th button at the top of the window
(the one with what appears to be a light switch icon next to the
trash icon) is the way to fix this.

It was certainly well disguised.

thanks for the reply Robert.
I found out how to fix it and it's not the "reply to" field.

At the top of the Personality window are seven buttons.
The sixth one says "Edit settings for this message".
It's next to the trash button and looks like a light switch.
The second field is "Email address"

Well hidden indeed...

You need to allow Daddy to scold you about your sig 5 times (in a
session). After you have taken your scoldings, the option will no
longer be grayed out (Sigh).
