2-up printing weirdness
Hi All,
I'm trying to print a 40-page document 2-up on letter sized paper (to conserve trees and money, Bill Gates I ain't <g>). I want page 1 to be on the right of the first sheet, and then the following sheets would have even-numbered pages on the left, odd-numbered pages on the right, with page 40 being on its own on the left hand side of the last sheet of paper. (Just like if you printed spreads from ID.)
Now, I know if I set it up to print from page 1, then Acrobat would start with p1 on the left, 2 on the right and so forth, so I started with p2.
When I set this feature up either in my printer's page setup OR using the print multiple pages feature in the Acrobat print dialog box, the pages print backwards on each sheet: page 2 is on the right side, page 3 is on the left, regardless of the first page specified to print. Each spread is the correct pages, but they are in the wrong order. This is when the first page in the series is p2.
If I start with page 1, it puts page 2 on the right, page 1 on the left, and the rest of the document is like that--page 4 faces page 3, page 6 faces page 5, when it should be 1 by itself, 2 and 3, 4 and 5, 6 and 7, etc.
I'm sure there's a box somewhere I haven't checked or un-checked. Any ideas? The fact that it happens using either the printer's dialog boxes or Acrobat's would suggest that it might have something to do with the printer, but when I set it up in Acrobat's dialog boxes and look at the previews the above description is how it shows. I don't get a preview if I set it up in the printer's dialog boxes. AND, it performs the same regardless of the printer I use.
The original doc was created with InDesign CS2. Acrobat Pro is version 7.0.2. The printer is an old workhorse Epson Photo 1200 inkjet, as well as an HP Officejet 6110 All in One. My computer is a G5 running OS10.3.9.
This all started because my HP printer won't print multiple pages from InDesign--which is a whole 'nother topic, don't get me started. The workaround is to create a PDF and print that to the HP, but in this case I can print spreads directly from ID--but only to the Epson. I just happened to find the above out by accident. (Of course, HP says it's because ID is a postscript app that it won't print. Okay, stop right there.)
Anyway, I figured you all out there might have some advice, short of purchasing RIP software.
Thanks--Dina

Re: 2-up printing weirdness
Add a page to the front of the doc [like an intentionally left blank page!] and section start page 1 on the rhs, if you are only going to print this your self.
regards Bj.

Re: 2-up printing weirdness
Hello All!
I'm new to the wonderfull world of pdf files (this dinosaur's got to learn!).
I was wondering hoe can I set-up a document that is 8.5" x 11", 2up on an 11"x 17" or larger in acrobat. I have heard there is a plug-in that can do that?
Any and all help will be appreciated!
Thanks
