    Default 2000 to 2003 +exchange enviroment

    Hello and Help

Brain power needed for the following

    I have a win2000 server running exchange 2000, and a new win2003 server running exchange 2003
both are dc for the same domain, (but have never 'seen" each other because of setup 2003 in test-network
When I put both in the same network, and sync them....(can this be done?) does the 2003 server takes over the settings from active-directory from our live 2000 server?
Can i keep hold of the mailboxes this way, and the user-dirs and all rights in my active-dir?
    Has anyone tested this...
    What was the outcome?..
can anyone give me some guidelines in this one?..

    thnx a millio

    greeting

    Michael

    Default Re: 2000 to 2003 +exchange enviroment

So I am confused. This sounds like you set these domains up separately even
though you say the same domain?? I think you are saying that these machines
are in completely different domain and have never been on the same network
together. If this is the case you will have to reinstall the Win2k3 box and
reinstall Exchange into this Forest. Even if they have the same domain name
they are not in the same domain as the SIDS are different. You will have to
use something like Exmerge to extract the mailboxes from the Win2k3 box into
..pst files and then you can import them into the Exchange 2k mailboxes. Then
the Win2k3 box will have to be re -dcpromo'd into the original domain, if
you want it to be a DC, and then you will have to reinstall Exchange2k3 into
this domain for everyone to sync and get along.
