Default 2nd hard drive reboot after startup

    Hi all,

Added a SCSI drive to a G3 266 platinum tower. The startup device
remains the internal IDE drive (OS 8.6). Now it will not start upon
startup, just stops at a grey screen. But it will start the second
time with a three fingered salute. There is no OS on the second drive.
    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

I would first check the PRAM/clock battery, that failure to start and
show a grey screen is exactly what I have seen when it is weak or dead.
Otherwise, possibly the new drive is still in the process of spinning
up, or the SCSI bus is not properly terminated.
