2nd install of XP Professional Upgrade
Each time I call Microsoft Support/Activation/Customer
Service I get a different answer to the following
question: Can I install Windows XP Prof Upgrade on a
second computer? I've already installed it on my laptop
under the registered name "abc" as an upgrade of Windows
2000 Professional. I want to install it on my destop,
which has my copy (under my name) of Windows XP Home
Edition Upgrade (of Windows ME). What will happen if I try
to upgrade the Home version on my destop with a 2nd
install of XP Professional Upgrade?

Re: 2nd install of XP Professional Upgrade
Hi
If you have already installed the XP CD upgrade onto one PC/Laptop - and activated it - you can't use the same upgrade CD to install onto another PC/Laptop.

Re: 2nd install of XP Professional Upgrade
You'll be in violation of Microsoft's EULA (End User License Agreement).
One license, one computer.
Now some will tell you to shove the EULA you know where and just go ahead
and do it. That's a personal decision you'd have to make. I personally
wouldn't do it. If I want to run XP pro on 2 computers, I buy 2 licenses.

No, you can't do this. The rule is quite clear. It's one copy for
each computer.
There's nothing new here. This is exactly the same rule that's
been in effect on *every* version of Windows. The only thing new
is that there's now an enforcement mechanism.

Re: 2nd install of XP Professional Upgrade
Who knows. As long as you do not tell Mickey Mouse you installed it on
another computer. How will they know. Have not felt the need but some of
the dead heads at MM might just go ahead and give you another activation for
updated computer.
