3-D Cutaway

I had my news reader sorting goofed up this morning and stumbled across this post from back in February, and for a momenty thought it was recent. However, because there was no answer posted to it, I thought I'd go ahead and post this:

"I am wondering if there is a way to use the new 3-D tools and get a "cutaway" view on the side of an object."

Despite its limitations regarding multiple objects in one 3D "space", the 3D Effect is quite handy at quickly building cutaways because of the way it treats groups:
