Default 3-D Effect and Spot Colors

I've noticed while using the 3-D Effect (Bevel and Emboss) that I get an warning on the side of the 3-D window that my spot color will be converted to process. How do I get around this? Does this mean that if I am required to use spot colors, I have to draw my own 3-D objects and cant use this time-saving tool?

    Please Help!

In the 3D effect window, select more options and check preserve spot colors.

Read the new warning and turn on overprint preview.

It maintains the spot color by overprinting the shaded portion to the spot. If you send to a printer that has rip settings to strip out overprints, you could have a issue.

If you sent it to my printshop, there would be no problem. Make a notation when you send the job off as a area on your artwork they should pay attention to.
