PEAR installation fails due to wrong g-pear.phar file. For more details

"When I try to install PEAR in PHP 5.2.0 (which by the way has been
release on Nov 2nd, and is no RC anymore IMHO) using the go-pear.bat
executable I get the results in the actual results section."

Resolution from cellog in PEAR bug tracker:
"Thank you for your report, this bug was caused by a fault in the release
process for PHP.

To install PEAR, download [url]http://pear.php.net/go-pear.phar[/url]
and replace the go-pear.phar in your PEAR directory that came bundled with
PHP 5.2.0."

This was a bug in the bundled pear, since package will not be
made you either need to download new package from go-pear site
or wait till next release of PHP.

This was a bug in the bundled pear, since package will not be
made you either need to download new package from go-pear site
or wait till next release of PHP.
