    Default 3d calatlog project

    Hello group.

We are shuffling a project in the company in which I work, to create a
catalogue 3D of furniture (with data bases and all the furniture modeled in
3D). It is an ambitious project. The idea is to also create the rooms, so
that the user introduces the measures and can move the walls, in order to
make to image and semejanda its office, its kitchen, dormitory, etc.

It is a system similar to which has Ikea.es (only that they have it like a
program that there is to download and to install) and we want that it is
    totally online.

The system will allow to modify the finished ones of the furniture,
upholsteries, etc. As well as a management of the orders through the same
one, even the direct sale by means of safe footbridge of payment.

The system will have its back-end, to add new products, to manage them,
    etc.

The question is that we would like to do it 100% in flash, but flash does
not have motor 3D, to be able to rotate products, to change the views of the
    rooms, etc.

Some people has recomend us to do it in Director, but our company has very
much experience in Flash (design and programming), but not in Director.

It is for that reason that I resort to the baggage of this group, to see
if somebody can orient to me about this project.

I have thought about vrml, creating the models with autocad or 3dstudio
and to see how with some programming language it could operate with them in
the Web, but not yet I know it clearly. What it confuses to me more is
the 3D motor to operate the objects, to rotate them, and to change the plane
    of
the room. I do not know either clearly with what programs to model the
objects in 3D (Director, autocad, 3DStudio)

Been thankful beforehand, I wait for your interesting contributions.

    EN ESPAÑOL:
    Hola grupo.

Your best choice will be to use 3DS Max 7 with the built-in Shockwave 3D
exporter in order to model, map and export the pieces of furniture.

With nicely crafted textures, a smart use of texture layers (1st and 2nd
texture maps, glossmap, environment map etc...), and texture baking, one can
    achieve great results.

Director is compatible with the HTTP protocol and XML so you will have no
problem linking your project to a database by use of a server side script
either sending back variables (through GET or POST) or a XML stream.

Your company can leverage its mastery of Flash by creating the user interface
next to the 3D scene as a SWF.
For the user interface elements displayed on top of the 3D scene, you may use
overlays or texture mapped planes attached to the camera.

    Best regards,
    Karl Sigiscar.

    Thanks very much.
I'll tell you about the future of the project.
