3D model (Maya) with transparent background? - Macromedia Director 3D

Hello, I was wondering if one of you could help me. I am trying to export a 3D model out of Maya as a shockwave (*.w3d) file and I absolutely can not manage to get the background transparent in Director!? The thing why I need a transparent background for the 3D model is because I want to make it interactive separately from another inserted still background (tif image), so the viewer can manipulate the 3D model (ie. turn it around) over a still image. Default 3D model (Maya) with transparent background?

    Hello,
I was wondering if one of you could help me.
I am trying to export a 3D model out of Maya as a shockwave (*.w3d) file and I
absolutely can not manage to get the background transparent in Director!?

The thing why I need a transparent background for the 3D model is because I
want to make it interactive separately from another inserted still background
(tif image), so the viewer can manipulate the 3D model (ie. turn it around)
    over a still image.

As well the 3D model looses its original, Maya lightning when imported into
    Director.
Please let me know what you think or know about it, as well about other
problems I might be confronting after this step.

    Thanks for all replies.

Instead of trying to make your 3d sprite's background transparent (which you
can do by turning off DTS, then setting the ink property) take a look at the
addBackdrop command. It'll allow you to add an image as the background of
the sprite and is hardware acceleration friendly :)
