3D Object Smoothing - Macromedia Director 3D

I am using Softimage to make a object and then I export it and then convert is to a w3d fileusing XSI2W3D. When I import the model into Director, it works, however the rendering looks terrible. There is no smoothing and it looks triangulated. Is there any way to smooth out models?...

can you upload a pic of your model and show it? that would make it more easy to
    give you an advice.

usually the model is triangulated after the export, because shockwave3D does
not know n-gons. it is the best idea to triangulate your model before you
export it, its possible that a automatic-triangulation makes your model look
wrong. or you used many polygons and your models number of polygons is reduced
by shockwave via the lod modifier. you can check this when you go closer to the
model. you can turn this modifier off.

next thing is that you can make things look better with baked textures and you
can use 2x antialias if your graficcard supports it. if you want to have good
results you should take a look at good made 3D games and see what kind of
tricks are used there to make things look great.

but to understand what is going wrong you should describe more precisly.

    greetings!
