3D on 2nd Monitor - Macromedia Director 3D

I need to be able to run Director projectors with 3D on the 2nd monitor on a Windows XP PC setup to run with dual monitors. The problem is, performance is absolutely horrendous on the 2nd (non-primary) monitor. We are guessing that when the DirectX 3D surface is created, it is by default, associated with the primary monitor. Since this part of the DirectX 3D API is not exposed through the Lingo 3D API, DIrectX must use software rendering on the 2nd monitor. Default 3D on 2nd Monitor

I need to be able to run Director projectors with 3D on the 2nd monitor on a

primary monitor. Since this part of the DirectX 3D API is not exposed through
the Lingo 3D API, DIrectX must use software rendering on the 2nd monitor. The
perforamance of a simple billiards game using the Havok physics engine is
    unacceptable.

We are currently investigating trying to hook the API call to CreateSurface,
so we can override Shockwave's default behevior.

If anyone has run into this, or if anyone on the Director 3D team has any
insight, I could sure use the help.

    Thanks,

You could try having the second monitor on a second graphics card, unless
you can show that other 3D apps run at the same speed regardless of which
monitor is used - I'm suspecting it's a limitation of the card rather than
    Director.
