Default 4 color text in PDF ?

Hello, I have an RGB PDF which converts into CMYK 4-color text.

Can I control the color conversion of black text within Acrobat Professional ?

eg. how do I avoid 4-color text when converting RGB PDF's into CMYK ?

Thanks for any help.

Firstly, with Enfocus Pitstop this is easy (global change or action list
/ pdf profile) but what version of Word are you using since this is
important ... there might be ways to keep as devicegray in your
situation ... depends if you have the source file or not?

Hi

I know it can be down using Pitstop, but you would need an Actionlist to get the desired conversion.

When it comes to easy, 3-klick color conversion, specially with PDFs generated from Office Apps, you should give pdfColorConvert from callas software a try - www.callassoftware.com

You just select "Office" as Source and your desired printing condition as destination.

Images stay vivid, RGB-Cyan becomes 100% Cyan, RGB-Gray only shows up in the Black channel (even RGB-Grayscale images get recognized and converted to Black only). All Black Text is set to Overprint in addition.

This type of conversion could not be solved easier.

In my opinion, a good equipped Acrobat Desktop has both tools, pdfColorConvert from callas (part of callas's pdfToolbox2) for color conversion and Pitstop for editing/correction.

best regards

Have you tried clicking "Preserve Black Objects" when converting color in Acrobat?
If set up correctly, this will convert RGB Black to 100K.

Hi David

this is ment "literally". Only RGB Black gets preserver, but not RGB Gray - unfortunately

Right... but the original question was about "black" text, not gray.

I like (and recommend) plug-ins, such as PitStop as much as the next person, but I don't recommend it for things that Acrobat can do by itself--especially for the casual user.
