A lot of bugs with Acrobat 8.0 and still not solved

I think normal user are adviced to wait to install Acrobat Pro 8.0 till Version 8.01 or 8.02 are availible.

For me a lot of bugs are builtin and I was able to create (and simulate) them on other system.

- Still not compatible with Quark 7.X. Are not able to use AdobePDF 8.0 to create a PDF. Same Problem as with Acrobat 7.X. A workaround is to export as PDF and then use the Distiller
- a large range of Canon Scanners are producing a freeze of Acrobat 8.0
- Cosmetic Bug. When using AdobePDF 8.0 in other Applications the Print Command is follewed by a entry mask for the Name of the PDF file. This mask will occurend 2 times!
- The new Adobe PDF 8.0 Plugins for Microsoft Program creates a unexpected quit after click the print button. This also occured when printing with the AdobePDF 7.0 (before installing Acrobat this problem wasn't their). A workaround is to deinstall to PDFMaker 8.0 Files and make a repair with Acrobat 7.0

I think other user can list also more bugs then these I listed. For me it is unbelieveble that the 3 main software producers for macintosh (adobe, microsoft and quark) are not able to test their software with eachother before they bring it on the market. Why need we as users want to become beta testers. Do they have such bad quality control in their software development teams?

Who has some suggestion to help them so we are getting better software??

In another Forum I read about the following terminalstring. I installed Acrobat 8.0 again I entered this "sudo chmod 755 /private/var/spool/cups" in the terminal.

I changed something but it's not satify me!

The positive result is then I am now able to print within Quark as PDF. But is has still some minor bugs. AdobePDF 8.0 ask me 2 times for the filename. AdobePDF 7.0 seems to work normal.

Further I can print with Word without crashing. Printing in Word, AdobePDF 8.0 ask me 2 times for the File Name of the PDF, AdobePDF 7.0 ask me complete not for a filename and starts printing directly to PDF!!

So waiting for Quark 7.1.2 and Adobe 8.02 is the solution, but we need to urge Quark and Adobe to maintain and test their software in a better way!!

I had this problem, but cured it. I removed all traces of the AdobePDF
7.0 printer driver and then the AdobePDF 8.0 printer driver. I then
asked Acrobat 8.0 to detect and repair the installation and all was
well.

Hello Mike

Do you have only Acrobat 8 installed on your system or both 7.09 and 8.0?

I now have installed both and both repaired. Now in both drivers I have 2 times the PDF Settings and he ask me 2 time for the PDF Filename. While Installing I recognised that both Version 7.0 and 8.0 use the same driver (Adobe PDF 3016.102). I use this driver and not the ADPDF7.PPD and ADPDF7.PPD.

Can you help me?

I have 6, 7, and 8 installed. When I cured the problem 7.0.9 was not
available, I have since updated to 7.0.9.
