Default A reference to acrobat.tlb could not be added.

It seems that acrobat.tlb (from the latest version of Acrobat - installed today) cannot be imported into a Visual Studio project.

Does anyone else have this issue?
    Thankx, Cheers Harry

Which version of Visual Studio are you using? I just tested adding the acrobat.tlb to a VB project in VS 2005 and it worked.

I am on Visual Studio 2008 with C# and using the latest Acrobat 9.1. It worked fine with 9.0.

VS2008 is not supported by Adobe for development with 9.x. Only VS2005 is officially supported.

I doubt that would cause this issue, just letting you know incase you ever need to call Adobe for a support issue with your code - they won't support you if you're using VS2008.

My suggestion is to reinstall or repair your Acrobat installation to make sure everything is registered properly. You can do a repair from the Help menu in Acrobat.

Well, it does make sense. If you consider how long it takes to develop a major release of Acrobat, they were working on 9.0 well before MS even had betas of VS2008 out, so there is no reasonable way they could have re-written the entire codebase to work with VS2008 in the few months between VS2008 being released and Acrobat 9.0 being released.

I have a VS2005 dev VM and a VS2008 dev VM, since Adobe is far from the only company to not support VS2008 yet. You'll find VS2005 only support is true for many other application SDKs as well, for the same reason as above.

It's not about what will or won't work. Chances are everything will work fine in VS2008 - it just hasn't been officially tested by Adobe, and if they don't have test results to fall back on, they can't officially support it. I'm sure you'll be fine with VS2008 in 99% of the stuff you do, it's just not supported.
