a trivial type question
When I'm doing magazine ads, there is frequently a lot of pushing and pulling to get type to fit in a certain area of the ad... for instance, squeezing a phone number in next to a logo. My usual strategy is to control height using point size and horizontal scaling for fit.
The same thing can be accomplished setting an arbitrary point size, and using both horizontal and vertical scaling to hammer it into the allotted space.
My question is... does one approach have any advantages or disadvantages over the other? Mostly I'm interested if using all that vertical and horizontal scaling creates any extra overhead or increases the probability of errors when I go to make my PDFs for the printer.
thanks

Re: a trivial type question
I don't think it matters to a PDF. But to keep it simple in a workflow, I personally would want to stick to using just one, like h-scale to control width, and keep the point size at at least an even 1 or .5 points.
