About "Four Months and Counting - NO FIX FOR CRAPPY FHMX"

Hi,

concluding from one of the longest threads in this newsgroup there are a lot
of passionate stubborn FreeHand users who, like me, still would like to use
it. Regardless how badly Macromedia has treated us.

Sometimes I wonder myself. Why I still use FreeHand, buy upgrades and hang
around here. Last four consecutive Windows FreeHand versions have had major
problems. Version 8 had a print pug which made PS printing take ages. I
could not use it until update. Version 9 had another print bug. Upper ASCII
characters did not print at all. Again, useless until update. Version 10.0.1
was a MX compatibility update. Some compatibility. Old PageMaker hyphenation
files, only ones available for FreeHand, could not be used anymore. (Luckily
InDesign hyphenation files can be used with 10.0.1 and MX) Also changed
Kodak color management system did not work in WinXP. Without it FreeHand
cannot be used for 'accurate' color work for print. No update to fix it, not
to mention hyphenation files for non-English languages. FreeHand MX has the
same bug in color management and it cannot be used until update either.

As you can see I've put up a lot of crap from Macromedia. Why? Maybe because
I'm stupid and do not know better. Maybe because I still think that FreeHand
is the best tool for my work. I only hope that Macromedia too would regard
FreeHand as the best tool for professional print work. We do not need all
the bells and whistles. We need a good solid tool.

Macromedia, we deserve better.

First off let me say thank for the positive post that you made this morning in conclusion to the "Four Months and Counting" thread. That type of post is far more productive than all the mud slinging that took place in the main thread.

I am curious about the Kodak Color Management that is not working on Win XP. I don't believe that I am seeing the same results that you are. Can you describe what you are seeing with greater detail?

I will also add that the Hyphenation issue that you are mentioning is going to be a fact of life due to licensing limitations. Which prevents distribution through any way other than the CD for the given language.
