absolute coordinates
hi all, I hope this is not a silly question, but I would a) like to display
the position of an object in absolute coordinates and b) enter manually
absolute coordinates to move objects to these new positions. I couldn't find
ANY information on that neither in the help files nor in the manual but and
would be VERY surprised if this wasn't possible...I know that entering relative
shifts is possible...
do you have any advice?
thanks a lot...

Re: absolute coordinates
FH displays the lower left position of a group in the Object Inspector. You
will see them under Dimensions: x and y. These are page coordinates. If you
enter different coordinates in those fields, the object will move to the new
location.
The numerical fields of FH accept equations, so you can add the width or
height of the object if you want to position by top or left.
Is that what you need? Usually it's easier to place precise guides using the
Edit Guides dialog, and snap the object to the guide.

You can even type like 58,58mm + 12,5 if you want to move the objet 12,5
millimeters from 58,58mm.

Re: absolute coordinates
thank you for your quick replies, but...
I don't get it...I can't find the coordinates. let's say I draw a line. if I
mark the line using the pointer, I don't get the info on the coordinates in the
object page. if I use the subselect pointer and mark on end of the line, I get
the x y location in the object page...of course I could enter the new
coordinates twice for each end of the line...but this is rather inconvenient...
is it a problem of my version of freehand? I am using mx under mac os x....
regards, sven

Re: absolute coordinates
group the line first, then check the inspector

I don't think this is very intuitive, but it works ;-)
