Default Absolute Links in Contribute 4

I have been told in this forum that Contribute 4 will allow users to create
absolute links to their images and to web pages. I would recommend that most of
my clients upgrade for this functionality alone. Does anyone know if this is,
in fact, true. And how would the client do it?

Hello,

You can create absolute links: Go to Insert > Link > Browse to Web Page.
Then, enter the URL of the page that you wish to use as the reference of your
link/s.

You cannot however insert images that use absolute paths/links.

It is best if you could try it on your end. I strongly recommend that you
download and install the trail version to test it out.

thanks ....

FYI .... the reason we need absolute links is that my clients send out email
newsletters on a regular basis (using DW templates and Contribute) ... often
with graphics and links in them. These newsletters, of course, need to have
absolute links to everything.

At this time, I have to add the absolute links to their completed newsletters
myself because they can't do it themselves. I'd love to be able to take myself
out of the loop.

Hi,

On inserting an image , Contribute by default puts relative link.

If you want to make the image path absolute then:

1. Click on image properties.
2. Enter the Absolute path for the image.
3. Save the image properties.
4. Publish the page.

And this should save your image path with absolute URl.

Cheers !!

Absolute links -

Contribute can do either of the following:

if you mean to say some sort of this -
<img src="http://www.google.com/images/wow.jpg">

Use - Insert->Link->Browse to Webpage or you can insert an image and go
to its properties and modify the url.

if you mean to say some sort of this -
<img src="../../division1/software/computer.jpg">

If you are inserting images from your same website, contribute will
automatically change the url to relative url. If you are inserting from
another website then it will have the url http://sitename/../com.jpg
