Accessing Virtual Directory in IIS 6 - ASP.NET Web Services

I am a new user with IIS 6 and am curious about how to make the best use of it in support of my web service. Default Accessing Virtual Directory in IIS 6

I am a new user with IIS 6 and am curious about how to make the best use of
it in support of my web service. I need to be able to move large files (MS
Word, Excel, Graphics) from my file server to the my client machines. Web
Services works fine for moving small files 200k or so but chokes on the large
files. Setting up a virtual directory in my web service which maps to my
file server was easy enough but I cannot get IIS to allow me access to it as
I keep getting told I don't have permission. Can I get a little coaching on
how to enable my client windows application to have permission to access my
    web server virtual directory.

    Thanks,
    Fred

What technique are you using to access the virtual directory in your code?

ISo far I am just trying to reach it with my browser. That is when I am told
I don't have permission to access the page. I was told that the best way to
move large files from a web server to a client was http so I anticipate using
webrequest method to access individual files. I am certainly open to
    suggestions.
