Accurately placing an image with a template in INCS2
I have templates for CD labels that I have used in PageMaker 7 (OS 9) that I am now trying to use in InDesign CS2 (OS X).
In PageMaker 7 (OS 9) when you click and hold a placed image, you can see the circles from the Master page which then allows you to align the image accurately. In InDesign CS2 (OS X) when you click and hold a placed image, you do not see the circles and therefore you cannot accurately align the image.
Is there a way to see the template circles on the Master page in InDesign?

First place - places according to upper lefthand corner of frame and image. Then switch to direct selection tool, white arrow, and click and hold on the placed image. You will then get a dimmed preview of the entire image and can adjust placement in image frame by dragging iamge around until you are satisfied with placement.

This makes sense to me but when I use to White Arrow (Direct Selection Tool) I do not get a dimmed preview of the entire image and therefore I cannot see the template underneath and cannot accurately place the image.

With the white arrow, click and HOLD and you will see the dimmed image.

Dimmed image only shows beyond bounding frame, not inside the frame.
Perhaps it might be better to place your dieline in a layer above the image ou will be placing.

Chip, if you use a circle for printing on the CD just place the image in that. you don't need to see the rest of the image just nudge it with the keyboard arrows until it is in the correct place. If you do all of the image manipulation in Photoshop this is a slam dunk.
especially if you place cross hairs in the center of the image.
