Acrobat 4.0 Printing Problems
I'm using Acrobat 4.0 and Distiller. I recently upgraded to Quark 5.0 and created an eps to bring into Distiller.
It created the pdf, but I cannot print it nor can other peole I've sent it to.
The Message is:
This document could not be read. The was a problem reading this document (12)
Does that mean I need to upgrade to Acrobat 5.0 to be compatible with Acrobat 5.0?
Please let me know. Thanks

Re: Acrobat 4.0 Printing Problems
No. You need an update to QuarkXPress 5.01.
(By the way, distilling EPS is not recommended; distill PostScript)

Re: Acrobat 4.0 Printing Problems
I'm not thinking of updating Quark, I'm wondering if I should update to Acrobat 5.0? Not using OSX yet.
Why is ditilling an eps not recommended?
Suggestions on .pdf from Quark are appreciated - Thanks

Re: Acrobat 4.0 Printing Problems
5.01 is a free upgrade, and you won't get much PDF out of QuarkXPress 5 without it.
Quark doesn't include fonts in its EPS files making it a poor choice for PDF creation.
Create a PostScript file (being sure to embed fonts), and process that through Distiller.

>I'm not thinking of updating Quark
I recommend you start! You were prepared to pay for 5.0, but won't go
for the free 5.01, which fixes it?
1. It's a very tedious way to deal with multi-page documents.>Why is ditilling an eps not recommended?
2. It can lead to issues with TrueType fonts not found.
This is why the recomendation is always to print to PostScript (with
Font inclusion: ALL and the Distiller PPD) and to distill the result.
Or use the Create Adobe PDF desktop printer.
