I am at a new job and they didn't have acrobat on the computer that I use so I found Acrobat 4 and called Adobe to make sure that it would work on my system. I was told that yes it would work. I installed the files, went to the web site and down loaded all updates that I could find. When I made a pdf with Quark 6 the files went from a 6 mb to 32 mb. I then tried to open the file in Acrobat to see why it became so huge. When I tried to open it in Acrobat it tells me it can not open the file because it doesn't have a pdf extension. but in looking at the file it does have the pdf extension.

I then decided because the file was so huge that I would instead make the file a eps then go the distiller route. A portion of the file I created opens but not the whole project. I also noticed that when I open acrobat that all the bells and whistle (menu bar) doesn't appear any suggestion why this would happen? I do work for a school but I don't think the educational version would be so lacking. It must be something else...

I must also tell you that I am an absolute novice at this stuff. Really novice. So if you give me directions they have to be reallly detailed. I am also fairly new to OSX..life in the fast lane!
