Acrobat 5.0 on Tiger
I just dropped Tiger Server on one of our systems then installed Acrobat 5.0 after updating to 10.4.1. The executable for 5.0 is being treated as a text file and I havn't been able to convince Tiger that it's an executable file. Same is true of the 4.0 executable that I've got as well. Does Tiger not support 4.0 or 5.0?

Re: Acrobat 5.0 on Tiger
Tiger still, supposedly, is able to run Classic. Have you installed
and started Mac OS 9?
However, I have heard reports that the Classic is getting more and
more broken in Tiger, and some have had problems running Distiller 5.

Re: Acrobat 5.0 on Tiger
I have Classic running although there is no Classic version shipped with Tigers Server (Suggestive isn't it). While 4.0 is Classic I belive the version of 5.0 that I have is OS 10 as I have other clients running Panther and using 5.0 without opening Classic to the best of my knowledge (I'll have to check, users can be so strange sometimes).

Re: Acrobat 5.0 on Tiger
Now I have to admit to being a little dumb. For some reason I assumed that 10.4.1 would understand the same file extensions as 10.3.9. Apparently Apple feels that they're special and don't need to follow any silly conventions like standardized file extensions that would allow programs to actually work on thier OS.
Short answer. If you have trouble running anything or getting files to open right try putting in the extension. Apparently Adobe 5.0 needs to have the .app extension like the Reader 7 (which I had downloaded to test this problem).
On a personal note, this, I believe, is why Macintosh got blasted out of the computer market for so long. Standards exist for a reason. Playing make believe and changing those standards leads to situations like this.
