Default Acrobat 5.0 shuts down when inserting pages

I've tried numerous times to insert a page into a .pdf document and every time Acrobat 5.0 shuts down. I've tried printing to the distiller - and that doesn't work either - distiller doesn't recognize the postscript document created. I'm working on OS X. Any suggestions?

I'm taking an application that is two separate pages in Quark 6.1 and saving as .eps files. I then open them in Acrobat Distiller and save as .pdf. When I open the first page of the application in Acrobat 5.0 and try to insert the second page, the program freezes then shuts down.

While it is a problem that Acrobat crashes, this is not a recommended
way of working. Especially, distilling EPS files is not recommended
because it increases the chance of font problems. And because it's a
very tedious way to do 100 pages!

You should distill a PostScript file, made by printing to file from
XPress.

I've also tried this - and the distiller doesn't recognize the format. It saves the file as a .ps instead of a .ppd - any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong?

Aandi is correct - we are not trying to avoid the situation ... but his
suggestion is the way in which 99% of us all work.

Car companies suggest we put petrol in the tank ... not up the exhaust
.... since the it can damage the car .. ;-)

..ps is correct ... what happens when you drag this .ps file over the

Distiller should open a file if it is PostScript. What happens?
>. It saves the file as a .ps instead of a .ppd
That's what it's supposed to do.

Can you describe, step by step, how you make the PostScript file?

It acts like it is distilling (which is farther than I got before), but then at the end of the message display it says "Warning: Empty job. No PDF file produced"

When I save as a postscript file, I have the document in Quark on screen. I then go to print the file. I don't have a postscript printer on my network, so I created a "virtual" printer on localhost (found this in the help section of Quark). I then select the localhost as a printer and go to output options - and select postscript file and save.

Tisha,

Link here: http://www.certitec.com - go to the TOP MIDDLE drop-down and
select QUARK 6 PDF .....

... and then drop the .ps file onto Distiller 5 ..

Okay - I've figured out how to distill. That works fine now. Still having the same problem with Acrobat 5.0 shutting down when I try to insert pages. I'm stuck and don't know what to do.

Either you did not see the message I just posted ... or you are NOT
creating a .ps file with all the pages as one ?

Does this make sense?
