Acrobat 6.0.1 updater does not work-reports error.

I went here, downloaded the stand-alone application:

Dear Adobe,

If there is actually a way to get to get acrobat pro to update from 6 to 6.01 would you please outline the course of action necessary on the 6.01 update page?

Then, that way, people might be able to fucking update Acrobat 6 to Acrobat 6.01.

Adobe seem to think it's the responsibility of Apple to ensure their software installs properly.

Many people have tried many, many methods to get it to install with limited success. Thing is I don't understand why you can't just expect the installer do to what it is meant to do.

Adobe's reponse to me on this problem was insulting to say the least. The insuation being I either have pirated software or my Mac is not efficient enough for their product (I have a Rev C PowerBook).

Time to look for a more reliable product elsewhere I think.

The message indicated is exactly the one that AI10 would give when trying to update a late beta version of AI10, not the public release. Where did you get the software?

I think he meant where was the original Acrobat 6.0 software gotten from? If you tried to update a late beta of the software it will not work.

When the 6.0.2 update came out, I tried updating to 6.0.1 again (and then to 6.0.2) and it worked. The difference this time is that I had moved from a Blue & White G3 to a QuickSilver G4/733 (and any OS updates that came in the meantime), so who knows what made it work this time.

It seems ridiculous that Adobe didn't respond "officially" to this obvious problem.

Meanwhile… I'm still waiting to find out how to get my "free" gift for registering the Creative Suite (the button on the online registration form was not clickable). On my second call to support I was told to call back in 2 weeks.

What kind of internet connection do you have? T-1, cable, dialup? Did the download stop and have to be restarted? Which format, hqx or bin? All these may be clues as to why you are having a problem.
