Default Acrobat 6.0.2 Pro Separations Preview

I'll open some PDFs (made by moi with an AICS Save As) and the percentages simply will not display as I pass the Separations Preview cursor over the colors in the file. I've been trying to figure out why - that is, which file characteristics and/or production method create this "non-registering."

In these same files, if I click the check boxes next to each plate within the preview window, my screen responds appropriately (removing that ink from the on-screen composite view). It's just that plate percentages don't show.

If I've described this in at least a halfway comprehensible way, can anyone lend some insight? Thanks

    Hi Doug,

I've seen this behaviour on certain *slower* workstations - it's a pain.

I know it's fixed in Acrobat 7 ... but bear in mind that once you goto
the SEPARATIONS PREVIEW, Acrobat is also turning ON the OVERPRINT
PREVIEW ... therefore the application does tend to slow ...

Are you running a high-powered Mac?

Very, Jon. G5 2.5GHz Dual processor, 4Gb DDR SDRam, two 250Gb internal SATA drives, OS 10.3.9 (although I saw this same quirk under 10.2.8 ).

I just can't for the life of me figure what conditions produce this.

Oh well, CS2 Premium Suite is on its way.

    Thanks.

Ah - pretty much top-of-the-range Mac then ;-)

Yes - Acrobat 7 will accommodate your request

    Hi

We've been suffering the same problem with Acrobat 6 and PDFs made from Illustrator and Artpro files via a Nexus RIP.

When viewed in 7 the percentages are there, but they seem to have increased by 10% or more.

Has this ever been a problem to any of you?

We have turned off all Colour Managment settings.
