Acrobat 6.0 Hangs when started

Acrobat sends cpu usage to 100% and hangs on splash screen

Hi Matthew,

I had the same symtoms on Window 2000 professional.
Finally fixed it by deleting 1000's (literally) of
empty Acr*.tmp files in

C:\Documents and Settings\Administration\Local Settings\Temp\Acr*.tmp

What operating system are you using? Is it Acrobat Standard or Professional?

Hold down the Shift key and launch Acrobat. Does this launch successfully?

Try deleting your temporary files and see if this make a difference:

Start > Run Type %tmp% and delete all files you find there.

Thank you for the information about checking how many tmp files there are in Windows (XP Professional for me). Many of these are in folders, is it OK to delete these too or only those that are outside folders?

The Acrobat problem seems to relate only to ACR*.TMP files in the main
folder. Some people find over 60,000 files, and Acrobat stops
working.
