Acrobat 6.0 installed (with no errors) but no printer was installed
I have just installed Acrobat 6.0 on a windows XP desktop (with all the MS patches). It also have MS Office 2003 installed on it. The install runs with no errors and nothing out of the ordinary in the event log. But with I try to us it I get the following error: PDFMaker cannot locate the Adobe PDF Printer's printer driver. Pleas re-install Adobe Acrobat 6.0.
I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times and I end up with the same result. I have also patched it upto 6.1 and have the same issues.
Have any one seen this or know how to solve it?
Thanks!
Dale

Re: Acrobat 6.0 installed (with no errors) but no printer was installed
You need to be running 6.0.1 for compatibility with Office 2003.
Do you actually have an Adobe PDF printer in your Printers & Faxes? If not then the first thing I would do is a Detect and Repair (under the Help menu in Acrobat).
If you installed Office after Acrobat then remove and reinstall Office - while Acrobat is on the system. This is only really worthwhile if you do have an Adobe PDF printer present.
If you do not have an Adobe PDF printer present and the Detect & Repair doens't replace it then try following the instructions in this techdoc

Re: Acrobat 6.0 installed (with no errors) but no printer was installed
Check in your printers folder to see if the Adobe PDF printer is there after going through what Dorian said above.
If not, then download the Universal Windows Driver Installer from <http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=1500> , run it and follow the instructions until you get to the section where you need to choose a generic PostScript Printer Description file. Click on Browse and search for the following folder :
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Distillr\Xtras
and choose the top option 'Adobe PDF' before carrying on with the rest of the process.
This should allow you to manually install the printer. Hope it helps!

Re: Acrobat 6.0 installed (with no errors) but no printer was installed
Thanks for all of the responses but nothing works. I have tried everything suggested in the first response including removing office and then trying to install it- no good. The I have tried the second response and get an error when I try to setup the local printer.
Anyone got any other ideas.
Thanks again.

Re: Acrobat 6.0 installed (with no errors) but no printer was installed

the local printer
So what exact error do you get?
Are you on a network? If so then it may well be a permission problem - can you install any printer (just pick one from the list of printers whose drivers are included with your OS and you can delete it immediately afterwards) - if not then you have to find out why...
