Acrobat 6 pdf files printed on LaserJet are terrible

I installed my Acrobat 6 on a new Dell XPS computer with 1GB Ram running Windoews XP. Pdf files look great on screen but when I print them on an HP LaserJet 2100 printer, they look terrible - graphics have a jagged bordering or shadow backround around a transparent box that doesn't appear on screen and there is shadowing behind text. I have checked and re-checked settings in Acrobat and the printer and can't find anything that is out of the ordinary to change. Acrobat 6 was updated t0 6.0.1

They files printed beautifully on old machine with Windows 2000, same printer. I installed an updated driver from the one that came with the machine and had to remove it because it crashed my accounting terribly and CorelDraw 12 so a new driver doesn't seem to be the option.

Also, when I am printing multiple pages from a pdf file, even though the spooling is correct in Acrobat and the printer, there is a pause after each page and it takes forever to print - especially frustrating for a 200 page document.

They print fine on my colour printer, but same problem with the pauses.

Try printing as a graphic.

I've done that and it only works part of the time. I've also been saving the pdf as a tif or jpg and printing from Photoshop, but having to go through that that procedure is ridiculous
