Acrobat 6Professional won't upgrade over Acrobat 6.0.1
I bought the Acrobat 6 Professional upgrade. I am currently running Acrobat 6.0.1 Standard on Win XP Pro. When I put the CD in and clicked on Install, a message comes up stating,"more functional software was found and the installation process will be terminated."
If "Professional" is sold as an upgrade, why is what I have considered more functional?
How do I solve this problem and install? Or if I don't need to install, did I just waste money buying an upgrade that isn't really an upgrade?

I don't know for sure, but you might try uninstalling Standard first.

Re: Acrobat 6Professional won't upgrade over Acrobat 6.0.1
Maybe the Pro upgrade Disk has Pro 6.0 on it and was meant to upgrade something earlier like version 5. With version 6.01 installed the pro upgrade finds more recent (definitely not more functional) software and can't tell the difference. In any case I think you really should get free help from Adobe on this - free of charges bu not free of phone costs. They'll ask for your credit card first just in case they decide the problem is your fault.
Did you buy a specific version for upgrading standard to pro, or just the generic Pro 6 upgrade. My guess is if it's the latter you'll need to allow the Pro upgrade to detect an Acrobat 5 CD.
Sorry I can't be more positive.
Cheers

Re: Acrobat 6Professional won't upgrade over Acrobat 6.0.1
Once before, by accident, I deleted the old version of Photoshop before installing the upgrade. The upgrade wouldn't install--couldn't detect any evidence of the "old" program. I suspect that the same thing will happen here if I uninstall Acrobat 6.

Re: Acrobat 6Professional won't upgrade over Acrobat 6.0.1
The label on the box states,"This upgrade version of Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional is intended for licensed users of Adobe Acrobat 4.X and 5.X and Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard."
So it is advertised to work at any rate!
