Acrobat 7 Converting European text to Word
When I extract text from Acrobat and save as a word file the German special letters are corrupted. I can't search and repace the symbols created by acrobat as I can with other programs. Not all the fonts from the document are affected but most are. In the italic font, for example, everything is okay.
When I "save as" txt format all the letters are okay but the layout sucks.
I've tried to do this many times with many different documents with the same result.
I use InDesign, convert to PDF and then would like to quickly create a word file to send to our translators.

Re: Acrobat 7 Converting European text to Word
You are not going about things sensibly. Acrobat pdf files should not be
viewed as a way station on the way to Word files. Acrobats save as
option should be viewed as a last ditch method of retrieving information.
To go from InDesign to Word you should copy and paste or better yet
design an xml workflow that allows you to retrieve the information you need.
However, if you regularly need to retrieve information format intact
from InDesign to Word your workflow really needs to be redesigned. It is
fatally flawed.
