Acrobat 7 vs PowerPoint X
Acrobat is disastrous in PowerPoint (v.X) on Intel. The add-in that it insists on putting back every time (requiring admin access which we do not give our users), causes PowerPoint to crash after the Office Gallery appears. Every time.
So it's we're damned if we do, damned if we don't.
Either:
- we leave PowerPoint completely dead in the water by leaving the add-in in place OR
- we have users unable to launch Acrobat because it insists that it needs to repair something that isn't actually broken (apparently Adobe knows best), and demands admin access (which currently isn't even allowing Acrobat to repair itself, I'm getting a spate of "unable to install a required component, must quit now"). How about "just launch"? Hmm?
Worst. Feature. Ever.
Our software is maintained by an enterprise-wide software deploy/repair system. Adobe apps in general, but Acrobat specifically will not play the game. Assuming everyone has admin access is ludicrous.
I just have to decide what to leave broken: Acrobat or PowerPoint. And I'm swinging wildly towards Acrobat.
I'm guessing that these woes won't go away any time soon, due to the absence of any 8.0 version of Acrobat Standard for Mac. I'm guessing the party line is "just buy Pro", which is not going to happen.
I hate this. Seriously.

Re: Acrobat 7 vs PowerPoint X
Just replace the PowerPoint PDFMaker add-in with a folder that has the same name.
