Acrobat 8 and Quark 7
I recently upgraded my workflow from Acrobat 7 and Quark 6.0 to Acrobat 8 and Quark 7.0 and I can't seem to get PDFs printed in the same manner I'm used to. Quark goes through the printing process but the files aren't created anywhere.
OS X 10.4.8
While I previously worked on Windows I didn't expect the workflow to be so drastically different with the the new platform. I want to simply select Acrobat 8 as the printer and get the file but one is not created. Even if I select printer options and give the file a name and a location it doesn't get created.
Any ideas?

Re: Acrobat 8 and Quark 7
Printing is one of the biggest differences between Mac and Windows.
Acrobat is pretty similar once you get over that. Are you able to make
PDFs from programs other than Quark by printing to Adobe PDF?

Re: Acrobat 8 and Quark 7
Aandi,
In other applications, the Acrobat printing flow is exactly the same as it would have been on windows. And it works. Some searching in the Quark forums shows that it's been a known issue since 7.01 (not 7.0) and updates 7.02 and 7.1 have not fixed it.
I should have switched to InDesign when I could.

Re: Acrobat 8 and Quark 7
In the end it was simply a permissions problem that Quark didn't like - but no other application complained about.
Thanks for your help; although I still should have switched to InDesign

Re: Acrobat 8 and Quark 7
Hello Petros
Can you tell us how you solve this problem with the permissions. I repaired the Permissions with the Apple Harddisk Utility but I am still not able to print PDF's in Quark 7.02 and 7.1
regards

Re: Acrobat 8 and Quark 7
In the Terminal (It's in the Utilities folder) type:
sudo chmod 755 /private/var/spool/cups
Unfortunately I have to do this every time I startup and am still trying to find out how to set it up permanently or create a startup script to do it automatically.
I'll keep you (and everyone) posted.

Re: Acrobat 8 and Quark 7
Hello
This is correct. I thought I solved the problem with this string, but tomorrow the problem was their again.
I think you can use the Automator.app to make a short script an edit the user-startup config to start this script.
I will wait for an solution from Quark or Adobe. I think they both haven't done their homework properly
Regards

Re: Acrobat 8 and Quark 7
Besides the permissions problem, Quark will only include PDF page
geometry into the resultant PDF if you use the Quark print method. This
is rather annoying for both publisher and printer .. especially if
within previous versions it's what they expected ...
Hmmm
(bash bash bash) ..
