Acrobat 8 & Word 2004
Does anybody know if Acrobat 8 can auto-generate TOCs and bookmarks from a Word document on a Mac?

Re: Acrobat 8 & Word 2004
It has long been said that Acrobat on the Mac can't do this because
Microsoft left out some important stuff for programmers, in the Mac
version of Word. If that's true, it's not something Adobe can fix...

Re: Acrobat 8 & Word 2004
I think the the comment you are refering to is to autmatically generate Hot links for email addresses and websites. Now the comment may still apply to TOC's as well.
I've already suggested to create them in Word then create the Pdf's afterwards.

Re: Acrobat 8 & Word 2004
We're still in the same scenario so I believe?
Either get all users to view in Acrobat 7/8 and auto-detect urls - or
use Acrobat to generate URL from document (Advanced menu) ... or switch
to Windows (smile) ...

Re: Acrobat 8 & Word 2004
It seems to me we go over this time and time again. While I'm a Mac
user first and foremost, I say get the equipment needed to do the job.
If you have many books created in Word that you need to convert to pdf
with a toc, then do the job in Word on a Windows machine. They are
cheap enough. One can do most of the work on the Mac if it works better
for you that way, then finish the job on the PC. It would be nice if MS
kept the playing field level, but they won't because it is not in their
best interest.

Hopefully When they switch to XML for both Mac and PC the playing field will be level. ;-)

Re: Acrobat 8 & Word 2004
The format of the files is not the issue, but the functionality of the
software using the files. It is not in MS's interest to provide
comparable functionality. Unless the EU makes them it won't happen, and
that isn't likely.
