Acrobat 8 asks for Administrator authentication.

Default Acrobat 8 asks for Administrator authentication.

I have installed Acrobat 8 Prof. for Mac as Administrator without problems on my Intel iMac. Started Acrobat the first time as Administrator as well and entered the serial number and user info. It works fine as long as I am logged in as Administrator.

However, logged in as standard user, a few seconds after Acrobat 8 started (even showing the document opened) it asks for Administrator authentication. Whether I enter the password or not: next time I start Acrobat again, it pops up again. The program itself seem to run fine with password supplied or with password dialog canceled. I have found a similar issue with Acrobat 7.0.7 and CS2 but it does not apply to me as I don't even have CS2...

How do I get rid of this message?

I don't have a solution, but the same thing happened to me. I installed Acrobat 8 as an administrator on an Intel Mac (MacBook Pro 2 GHz). It works fine for the admin user, but when I log in as a standard user, it asks for an admin name and password every time. We have a volume license and I also installed it, as an admin, on a Power Mac G5. The application works fine for a standard user on that machine.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Hmmm....that's funny, I have the exact opposite problem! When I installed Acrobat 8 with my admin. sign in, it installed, and registered fine, but every time it was opened it would stay that open for only about 8 seconds, then quit. It gave no error message, just dissappeared. I uninstalled it, and logged in with a standard user account and reinstalled it (after giving the admin. name and password). When I switched back to my admin account, it wouldn't stay open. However, When I log in as a standard user and open it, it works fine... I worked around it by basically switching my admin. and standard user accounts... A bit of a pain having to enter the admin name and password everytime I want to alter a network setting, etc. but it gets the job done. Adobe's tech support was of no use, they basically told me that "well, if it works in one account, that's all we can do." The good news was that I was only on hold for 50 minutes to find that out! :-)
