Default Acrobat 8 OCR speed results

I just OCRd a 525 page pdf file (file history for a patent). It took 1 hour and 2 minutes. Roughly 8.5 pages per minute. Pretty ratty, xeroxed many times, pages.

OCRd patents (small type) take about 2-3 second/page from good quality scans. In addition to the speed, I also like the automatic page adjustment to vertical that happens.

System: MacBook Pro, 17", 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo (not the very latest model), OS X 10.4.8, 2GB RAM, A8 version 8.0.0 (no updates yet).

I am curious how these times compare with WinTel boxes.
Anybody else have any OCR speed results?

Thanks for the tip Jon. I checked 2 doors down, and the next several hundred doors in the Window forum. No Windows OCR speed results. Can you provide a particular topic to look in? thanks.

You might also ask in the Acrobat Capture forum where you are more
likely to find people that capture 500 pages at a time. Of course they
are using Acrobat Capture 3 (an ancient product). It would be
interesting to know which is faster Capture 3 on modern computers vs
    Acrobat 8.
