Acrobat 8 Professional Is Shipping
From Lori DeFurio's blog the Adobe blogs:
"Well, the wait is over! Acrobat 8 (Standard and Professional) are available for purchase and download from the Adobe.com store and the trial (Acrobat 8 Professional for English, French, German, and Japanese) is available for download (www.adobe.com/tryacrobat). If you're looking for a shrink-wrap box (and not ESD) - it should be on the shelves of your favorite computer store by Monday. Adobe Reader 8 will be available in a few weeks for download. Adobe Creative Suite 2.3 Premium will be available on November 8th. Also - the brand new Acrobat Connect trial is available. Just click the "Start Meeting" button in Acrobat 8 and you'll be able to subscribe and get your own personal meeting room. If you don't have Acrobat 8 yet, don't worry - you can go directly to the sign-up page. And if you want to learn more about Acrobat Connect - we have pages available for you to review."

Re: Acrobat 8 Professional Is Shipping
Had had another user in another thread about Acrobat 8 determine that the only Trial version available was for Windoze. I suspect a Trail for Mac is not in the cards. Don't ever remember a Trail for Mac in previous versions

No. No Mac trial from what I've heard.
Also, version 8 standard won't be available for Mac as well.

Actually that's not bad.
There ought not be for PC as well. Standard only allows the creation of very rudimentry Pdf and many things you should be allowed to do, you can't in it so its a waste of money.

True.
and many things you should be allowed to do, you can't
Maybe many things that YOU wold like to do but if the simple ability to create PDF is all you want, it's nice to be able to save a little money and get the Standard version.

Re: Acrobat 8 Professional Is Shipping
Most of what standard lets you do, The OSX System allows you to do.
BTW: I got mine yesterday and received a rude awakening. I haven't been able to upgrade to OX.4 on my Desktop Unit (OSX.3.9) Tried several times and would hang up. Then I would have to reinstall.
Anyway I received my Acrobat 8 yesterday. Tried installing. installed okay. Wouldn't open. Read the tech notes included in install. X.4.3 is minimum system.
Installed fine on my Laptop as it uses X.4.8.
Luckily I have an external Firewire Drive I have X.4.8 on. Its attached to desktop. So I can run it from desktop, that way.
