    I cover that issue at the end of this blog:

    <http://indesignsecrets.com/customizing-pdf-presets.php>

    You can move settings files between Acrobat 8 Distiller and Acrobat 7 Distiller. The folders are just in different locations.

    Thanks steve,
    I found the settings folders. Thanks for the blog(good info). Now for my real problem...I had Acrobat 8 installed on Thursday...now when I print from Adobe Ai10 to PDF 8 there is no option to select the presets in the print box. The selection in the pull down for PDF presets is not available. One time I had two PDF presets show up.... now.... I don’t have any...something has gone amuck since installing 8. Do I have to remove 7?

    thx

    Adobe Illustrator 10 didn't have PDF presets. You need to upgrade your version of Illustrator.

    Illustrator CS2 has much improved printing and PDF creation. If you choose File > Save As > Adobe PDF, the Save PDF dialog has PDF presets.

    HI Steve,
    The way we create pdfs from Illustrator (worked fantastic) is by printing to the Adobe Pdf 7.0 printer in the page setup and print dialog box. In the print box in the pull down options ie copies & pages, there was always a PDF section where you could select your Distiller options. Since installing Acrobat 8 that PDF option is not appearing in the menu.
    Any ideas? Should we uninstall acrobat 7?

    thx

    I think you're running into the only conflict I know between having Acrobat 7 and 8 on the same computer: The printing gets screwed up in Acrobat 7. Choose Acrobat PDF 8.0 and you should see PDF Options (at least it does on the two computers where I have both Acro 7 and 8 installed).
