Acrobat cannot find scanner
It seems that this is a problem that has come up previously, but I am wondering if there have been any recent fixes.
I am trying to create a PDF from scanning. I am using Acrobat 6 & 7, but would like to primarily use 7. I have two types of scanners.
1. Umax PowerLook 1100 - hooked up-to a G4
2. HP Scanjet 8250 - hooked up-to a G5
The scanners work fine in Photoshop. Sometimes the HP Scanjet is shown as the scanner on the G5, but when I click Scan I just get an error message telling me that the scanner cannot be found. This happens whether-or-not the OCR setting is clicked on.
Thanks for any ideas / help,
Charlotte

Re: Acrobat cannot find scanner
Try reinstalling the Driver package for the scanner.
Go to HP's website, see if there new versions of the driver if so download and install those.

Re: Acrobat cannot find scanner
It could be that they are not supplied with TWAIN drivers, but with
Photoshop compatible drivers. You can scan with the supplied scanner
driver and import the result into the pdf file. There is a product call
Vuescan, they may provide a twain driver for your scanner.

Re: Acrobat cannot find scanner
Also there is a UNIX project SANE that suplies SANE/TWAIN Converter files that work Great. <http://www.sane-project.org/> (Scanner Access Now Easy) Go to tha Mac portion of site and download four pkg files. leave alone the SEA and SDK files.
libusb.pkg
gettext.pkg
sane-backends.pkg
TWAIN-SANE-Interface.pkg
install them in no certain order.
when completed you'll have a driver for your scanner.
Make sure to download and install correct version by locating the list of Scanners supported.
I use a USB UMAX Scanner and Umax has downright sorry supporting their scanners. two months after I bought my scanner Panther came out. Needless to say I was hot under the collar spending over $200.00 it not being supported in OSX. with out these drivers would just have a $200 paperweight.
