Acrobat crashes on long document and won't tell me why :-(
I'm using Word 2003, Acrobat 6.0.1, Win XP Pro. I have a 250 page long Word document with lots of linked pictures, including bmp, jpg and wmf (windows metafiles), plus tables and graphs.
When I try to print to Acrobat, either part or all of the document, it invariably crashes, but there are no helpful messages that indicate what the problem is.
I also use MapInfo, a desktop mapper, and I can't print windows metafiles to Acrobat from it - same crash. However if I save a map window as a tif file, I can print it as a pdf with no problem. I checked the help file and I could not seem to find a section of supported (or non-supported) file types.
Could windows metafiles be the problem? Acrobat has no problem printing text only documents. I could save all my maps that are presently wmf in a different format, like tiff, which my desktop mapper caters for, but it would take a long time to do this.
What I am aiming at is to be able to print my university thesis out on paper with the graphic quality provided by windows metafiles, and then make pdf copies of the thesis to put on CD, much cheaper than handing out printed copies.
I am not a particularly skilled user of Acrobat- any advice gratefully accepted.

Re: Acrobat crashes on long document and won't tell me why :-(
First, try printing to the Adobe PDF printer rather than using PDFMaker as it sounds like you are doing. If that works, it is then a matter of sorting out the preferences in the PDFMaker that cause the problem. Keep in mind, that Office 2003 is newer than AA6 and that may be part of your problem - AA6 not certified for Office 2003 to my knowledge.
