Acrobat Distiller Printer Error Message: This Document Failed to Print

Hi, all 3 of our office computers are using XP Pro and Acrobat 5.05. My computer has the Adobe update for 5.05. All the computers including mine receive an error message when printing to Acrobat Distiller: This document failed to print. It takes several minutes to then cancel the document and clear the printer. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What type of document are you attempting to print to Distiller?

We are getting this error in our office as well. We also have XP Professional and Acrobat 5.05, including the latest patch for XP. The error has occurred when printing to Distiller from WordPerfect 11 and IE 6.

If the error also happens when printing to Distiller printer from Wordpad (a good generic test for Distiller printer), go to the Adobe knowledgebase <http://www.adobe.com/support/products/acrobat.html> and use the search *"failed to print" windows* (exclude the *s). The first doc that I get with that search has solutions that might work for you.

Adobe's support does have the answer: I needed to unselect the "Do not send fonts to Distiller" box in the Distiller printer properties (Printing Preferences...Adobe PDF Settings). It's working fine now, give that a try.

Thanks, Kay. I couldn't make pdfs from any application, including Photoshop. But the solution you pointed me to worked perfectly.
