Acrobat Distillers adds file name to bottom of page
How can I prevent Adobe Acrobat from adding the file name and location to the bottom of the .pdf file I create by printing to Distiller? The original file is created in MS Word 97.

Do you have a footer inserted into the Word doc? What filename does it give, the .DOC or the .PDF?

Re: Acrobat Distillers adds file name to bottom of page
No footer in the Word doc. The name it gives to the Word document is user defined at the time we save the original Word .doc. Distiller asks if we want to overwrite the original name to which we say "no". (Hope I understand your question correctly).

Re: Acrobat Distillers adds file name to bottom of page
I have not seen this done by Distiller. Go through the precise steps you are using to create the PDF. Are you printing to the Adobe PDF ro Acrobat Distiller printer or using PDFMaker? Are you doing anything else with the filea?
Are you really sure there is no footer as WT asked? The footer in the WORD document is the typical way this is done and not through Acrobat. There may be a way to do this with Acrobat, but that means someone has apparently set up that feature at your site as it is not a normal practice (and I would not even know how to do it off hand - you might check the print driver for a watermark or such).

It could also be a cover page that the driver is adding.. but again, this is not the default behavior of Acrobat.

Re: Acrobat Distillers adds file name to bottom of page
I meant what file name is listed in the footer.
At the bottom of the PDF does it say "file.pdf" or "file.doc?"
