    Default Acrobat print speeds

I have several versions of Acrobat for Mac, versions 4, 5, 6, & 7. I print many PDFs from different sources regularly. My system is composed of many Macs, G3s, 4s, & 5s, they all print thru a print server on a Win 2000 Server version that sends the files to several different Postscript printers. My question is: why does a print from Acrobat 7 on a G5 OS X machine go so much faster than the same file sent from a G4 OS 9.2.2 machine running Acrobat 5? The obvious answer is the speed of the machine but once the print file has been sent to the print spooler on the server, the server than RIPs the file and sends it to the printer much faster than the same file after it was sent from a G4. I can see the faster G5 printing to the print server faster than the G4 but why does the print server appear to be able to send the file to the printer so much faster? Not that I am complaining but I thought the print server would require the same amount of time to print the file after it received it, regardless of who sent it to the print spooler. Just trying to understand and any light shed would be appreciated. Thanks.

Acrobat 5–7 will all run on your G5. Print the same file from each
version of Acrobat on the same machine and test the times from start to
finish and report the times. That will determine if Acrobat 7 is really
    that much faster.

Thanks for the reply Mike. Acrobat 5 would require Classis be installed
on a machine in order to test it and I do not have Classic on that
machine. I guess my question is more focused on the fact that since
Acrobat 5, 6, & 7 all print to a print spooler on the Win2000 server
first and then the Win2000 print spooler sends the files to the
printer, why would the Win2000 print spooler print the file from
Arcobat 7 print faster than the same file from Acrobat 5. I am not
referring to the print speed of Acrobat 5 or 7 so much as the speed
that the print spooler can send the file to the printer. I hope this
makes sense. I thought perhaps the files printed from Acrobat 5 were
being printed as Image instead of as Postscript but that is not the
    case.
