Acrobat Pro 8 crashes
Acrobat Pro 8 crashes after 1-2 minutes of use. Tried repairing permissions and verifying disk, no luck. Tried uninstalling and re-installing, no joy. Mac OS X 10.4.8, dual 2.7 G5, 4 GB RAM. Also tried manually fixing permissions on the package contents, as well as delting old prefs, no luck. Anyone?

Re: Acrobat Pro 8 crashes
Fixed this problem by installing a new admin user, then installing Acrobat Pro 8 for that user. Then I simply copied all prefs, documents, etc from the old user to the new and deleted the old user, and now Acrobat Pro 8 doesn't crash.
Can't understand why this would work though.

Re: Acrobat Pro 8 crashes
Was the old user a "User" profile that was promoted to "Administrator"? If so there have been documented issues about this in the past. If not, then you probably had a rare case of a corrupted profile.

Re: Acrobat Pro 8 crashes
No, it always was the (original) admin user.

Re: Acrobat Pro 8 crashes
After 1 hour on the phone with Adobe Support and many trials and errors, this is what we discovered would fix the problem:
Get Info on the Acrobat 8 application and, under the Plug-ins section, un-check Updater.acroplugin and launch Acrobat.
