Default Acrobat Professional 6.0 on Windows Server (2000 or 2003)

Are there known issues when trying to create PDFs from Acrobat Professional 6.0 on a Windows Server 2000 or Windows Server 2003? When trying to perform that action (using the "TryOut" version of Acrobat Professional 6.0), I receive the following error, "There was an error found when printing the document "Microsoft Word - test.doc" to My Documents\*.pdf." This same error is received when trying to create PDFs from any other Office applications.

My company is evaluating Acrobat Elements Server, which requires Acrobat Professional 6.0. On a Windows Server 2000 or Windows Server 2003, the above error is received. When I installed the same TryOut version of Acrobat Professional 6.0 on a Windows XP workstation, PDFs were successfully created.

    Help!!!!

    Rick,

I take it the Administrator is logged on to the console on the server and acrotray is running?

You may also like to make sure that you are definitely running within the licencing agreement(s).

Acrobat is an end-user tool, so server systems don't appear in the
list of tested systems. A normal user logged on to Windows Server 2000
    should be OK though.

Thank you for the replies. Please do not take the following statements to be confrontational, but please look at the "Getting Started" document (specifically pages 8 and 9) for Acrobat Elements Server. It clearly states Acrobat Professional 6.0 is a requirement, and must be installed on the physical server that is going to running Elements Server.

Arthur, to answer your question, yes, the logged in account has administrator permissions.

But that only answers the first part of my question - is acrotray running in that session?

Certainly don't. Don't forget this is strictly a User to User forum with other users trying to give you advice/assistance - all we are trying to make sure is that you don't fall foul of any licensing requirements unwittingly.

That's good - I guess it means that Adobe have uprated the supported
systems. I should certainly have read your question in more detail...

That doesn't help you much, I know. You are actually the first to post
here of any issues with Elements Server. There is also an Acrobat
Elements forum, but it seems little visited (except by lost souls with
    Photoshop Elements problems).

Sorry Arthur; yes, when looking at the Task Manager, acrotray.exe is listed under the Processes tab.

    Aandi,
I did see the Element Server forum, and just posted a different question into that forum. But as this question is strictly related to Acrobat Professional I thought this forum was more appropriate. Before evening installing the Elements Server software, the printing error is receiving.

Thank you all again for your efforts.
